Last week I attended Boston's Rose Garden Party in the Kelleher Rose Garden at the Back Bay Fens. I'm sure I've said this before, but if you are in Boston during the summer, you must take a stroll through. It is utterly breathtaking. Each year, Mayor Menino hosts a party to benefit ParkARTS. I only hope once a new mayor is elected (I can't imagine this city with another mayor) that this tradition lives on. 

Sadly for last week's soiree, it was pouring out. But that didn't stop the attendees from dressing up in their best headwear. My hat and Elisha's (on the right) are from Marie Galvin's Galvinized Headwear. Marie's studio is in the South End and it's a must visit; each of her hats is a unique work of art. Marie was kind enough to loan me this beauty and I had so much fun wearing it. I only wish we had more chances to wear hats in this city!

This outfit is all about these fabulous orange and gold trimmed sandals that I got on sale at Barney's. The stacked heel is an ode to my effort to wear more practical shoes. I know, I know, bright orange and gold shoes to some are hardly practical, but to me orange might as well be a neutral.

The J Crew cafe capri trousers make an appearance again, this pair from last year in a micro navy and white check. I paired them with a classic white blouse, navy and white colorblocked jacket from Zara and my super chic and comfy Roger Vivier flats.

I love this time of year when the tomatoes actually taste like tomatoes should, the farmers markets are in full swing and the in season foods from local purveyors abound. Twice a week there is a farmer's market in Copley Square right near my office and I bought these beautiful pork chops. I was thinking of how to prepare them in a way that was simple and easy so I decided to encrust them with Panko breadcrumbs and bake them.

I seasoned the pork chops with salt and pepper then coated them with Dijon mustard and Panko breadcrumbs. I laid them in a baking dish coated with a bit of olive oil and cooked them at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes. I served them up with my favorite mashed cauliflower and local mozzarella and gorgeous red and yellow tomatoes. 

This was a really easy meal to make and it was also healthy and delicious!

My friend Sandi was in town this weekend from Vermont and after a Saturday of shopping and getting beautified at the Neiman Marcus makeup counter, we made our way over to Boston's waterfront. It was the perfect day for drinks and dinner outside taking in Boston's beautiful views. First we did a lap around Louis Boston and then headed upstairs to Sam's for a nibble and a glass or two of rose'. 

After our cocktail hour, we walked the Harbor Walk over to have dinner at Pasta Beach where we sat outside, took in the views and had a delicious dinner. 

On another note, I'm heading to Charleston, SC at the end of the month. I know I'll be hitting my favorite restaurants, FIG and Hominy Grill. Do you have any other must hit Charleston spots?

Last week I went to an FGI event at Succarra in Boston. Succarra represents jewelry and accessory brands and their showroom is chock full of eye candy. While I was there, I picked up this super fabulous necklace which in less than a week, I've already worn several times.

Sorry for my lack of outfit posts this week. My mother was in town visiting so I wasn't focused on the blog.

Last year I bought the J Crew pencil skirt in several colors and this floral print. The pencil skirt is so easy to wear and this day I picked up both the green in the skirt with my blouse and the pink with my shoes.
