What's old is new again...

Now I know that it is said that if you wore something the first time it was in fashion, then you're too old to wear it when it comes around again.  But if I believed that, I wouldn't have fully embraced multiple times one of my all time favorites...leggings.

I remember a time when a denim shirt was a staple in my wardrobe.  And if not the denim shirt, it was a dress or a skirt. And seeing some of the options that are available makes me think that perhaps this is something that I can embrace the second time around.

I think I'll pair a structured denim shirt like the Burberry one below with the uber soft wool skirt I bought at Talbots.

Easy eggplant parm

I love eggplant.  I love it just sauteed, as baba ghanoush, in pasta alla Norma.  And since anything with red sauce is my comfort food, I also love eggplant parmagiana.

My version of eggplant parm is quick and easy since I don't bread the eggplant.

Slice an eggplant into 1/4 inch slices
Brush lightly with olive oil
Bake on a baking sheet at about 350 for 10 minutes (more or less depending on the thickness of the slices)
Layer the cooked eggplant in a baking dish;tomato sauce, eggplant, grated parmigiano or pecorino romano and mozzarella.  Do as few or as many layers as you want.
Bake at 350 for about 15 minutes.  I had mine with whole wheat pasta and had plenty of leftovers for lunch.

Mad for Military

Fall Trends - Military

Sometimes I succumb to the trendiest of trends and the military trend is hitting me just right for fall.  I tried on the darling Tory Burch flats this past weekend.  I've got the Rebecca Minkoff morning after bag in olive on my wish list and can't wait to wear my Paige cargo pants.

Fall Trends - Cool in Camel

Cool in camel

I've said it before, Talbot's has really stepped it up and is my not so secret weapon.  I had been anxiously awaiting the arrival of a few fall items that I had spied online.  Thanks to a tip from one of my fashion loving friends, I popped in at lunch today to try on this fabulous camel leather pencil skirt.  It fit like a glove and other than the one on the mannequin, was the last one they had in the store.  Obviously it found it's way home with me.  I think I'll keep it neutral and wear it with varying shades of camel. Add a magnificent leopard bag such as the Celine one below and I'll be ready for fall.

Eat Like a Man!

Eat like a man, Esquire says? I'm no man but you will definitely find me at Eataly on my next NYC trip.  I'm most certainly ready for a field trip through 50,000 square feet of Italian food heaven.
