DVF Double Down

Boston had such gorgeous weather this weekend.  The first days of spring really make me appreciate what a lovely city I live in.

DVF top, J Brand jeans, Miu Miu oxfords

This fun flowy DVF top was the perfect way to celebrate what finally feels like the arrival of spring.

Kenneth Jay Lane cuff, ring from Elisha Daniels' shop
And how do you like my new fun nail polish?  It's Chanel mimosa.  Pardon the messy paint job but this was before I went for a proper mani.

Kate Spade jacket
Since there was a wee chill in the air, I added this bright kelly green Kate Spade jacket.

DVF top, Talbot's shorts, Pour La Victoire shoes, Marc by Marc Jacobs clutch
After my afternoon of prancing about town getting freshly coiffed and running some errands, I went home and did a quick change for the evening.  I decided I wanted to wear these suede shorts from Talbots that I hadn't yet had the chance to wear.  I tried on several different tops but settled on this navy DVF number for my evening out with a couple girlfriends.  And not quite ready to give up the coats just yet, I wore what has become my trusty go to camel jacket from Zara.

Zara jacket, baubles from Elisha's shop

The ladies and I went to dinner at Erbaluce in Bay Village which was bustling when we arrived.  I'm always thrilled when a lovely local restaurant that prides itself on a creative menu with high quality, ingredients seems to be doing so well.   We had the privilege of a visit from the chef who sent out a few treats for us including the house cured salmon which was melt in your mouth delicious as well as a mushroom pasta dish that was layers and layers of mushroom flavor in a perfectly thin sheet of pasta with just the right amount of ricotta.  To die for.  I would definitely order both of those items on my next meal there.

I hope you all had as lovely a weekend as I did!

Are You Ready??

It's official, I spent the better part of today doing the winter to spring closet switch.  I tried almost everything on, lugged a load of stuff to the consignment shop and my closet is chock full of COLOR!

Color High

I began the weekend on a total color high so Friday I really went crazy.

Kate Spade jacket, Zara top, Joe's jeans, Jimmy Choo flats

I put on this blue and green striped shirt from Zara with jeans but decided to really kick it up a notch by adding bright yellow into the mix with a Kate Spade jacket.  I really like the mix of all these colors together.

Longchamp bracelet, Sequin necklace

I kept the color going with my jewelry by wearing a green Longchamp leather bracelet and a multi-color necklace from Sequin in Palm Beach which I bought because it reminded me of a vintage necklace I had seen.  It ended up being the perfect sunny outfit and it was the perfect beginning to a gorgeous weekend.

Cotillion Southern Cafe

Last weekend's trip to Florida yielded a few surprises; some good and some not so good.  But one of the best was happening upon one of the most charming little restaurants one could hope to encounter.  My mother lives in what I like to call the middle of nowhere Florida which basically means she's over an hour from an airport.  In the big cities of the northeast, you can really get almost anything.  But try as we might, an authentic southern breakfast is hard to come by.  My sister put her husband on the task of finding her a real southern biscuits and gravy breakfast and his research found Cotillion Southern Cafe in Wildwood, FL.  Saturday morning we went with the expectation of a good greasy spoon, southern style.  What we found was total southern charm and ridiculously good food.

As soon as we pulled up outside the restaurant, we knew this was not the greasy spoon we were expecting.  Maybe it was the lovely white rocking chairs outside...

The restaurent is adorned with memorabilia of the historic space in which it resides and the southern roots of the owners.  The building is a bank from the early 1900s.

The eclectic collection of china on which you are served your food is beautiful and full of history (the plate above was made in occupied Japan during WWI).

Every breakfast begins with homemade biscuits and pear preserves that will fill your dreams.

Any restaurant that serves fried green tomatoes and remoulade as part of the breakfast menu is A-OK in my book.

I had the cock-a-doodle-doo sandwich which was a fried egg, bacon and scallion cream cheese sandwich.  The bacon was smokey goodness and while I wouldn't usually think of scallion cream cheese on an egg sandwich, this was the perfect combination.
My sister had the required order of biscuits and gravy with a side of cheese grits (which they call Georgia ice cream) and she declared it one of the best versions of this dish she has ever had.

My brother in law ordered the buttermilk waffles topped with fried chicken.   This is a traditional southern combination and quite a plateful of food.
If you find yourself even remotely near this place, I highly recommend seeking it out.  It was all hospitable and southern charm with one of the best breakfasts you could ask for.
