I'm back from a whirlwind couple of days in NYC for a belated birthday celebration with my girlfriends. It was the most fun! We arrived Friday and had a lovely lunch at a restaurant in the Meatpacking District called Bagatelle. We had decided we wanted to wander around Meatpacking since we hadn't done that in quite a while and did a little research on the train that led us to Bagatelle. We arrived shortly after noon and were the only people in the place at that point. We settled in to a lovely table by the window overlooking the gorgeous dining room. It's all white and modern with ornate chandeliers and splashes of color in the graffiti like art on the walls. Service was attentive, food delicious and we couldn't have asked for a better spot for lunch. We agreed that we'd definitely go back and love to try it for dinner.

After lunch we wandered into Jeffrey which is a fabulous department store in the neighborhood. They have many of the same high end designers you see at lots of other stores however the way they curate and display sets them apart from any other store. It's a must go if you are in the area and haven't been. After we decided to wander along the high line which I can't believe I had never done before. It's a lovely walk and very cool to see the architecture (old and new) and the buildings in process.

Friday night we had my birthday dinner at Le Bilbouquet on the Upper East Side. It's a very lively spot that clearly has lots of regular customers. Food and service were both very good and the people watching was even better.

Saturday we did our usual routine; jaunt through Barney's and Bergdorf Goodman, lunch at Fred's at Barney's, late afternoon cocktails at the King Cole Bar at the St. Regis. We had planned to have dinner at Dirty French Saturday night but it was a late reservation and we were tired from running around and whooping it up the better part of Saturday afternoon. So instead we decided to keep it simple and have dinner at Cellini which is a delicious Italian restaurent across the street from the hotel. And speaking of the hotel, we stayed at the Hotel Elysée. We've stayed there many times before. It has a great location (54th between Madison and Park), they have a lovely light breakfast in the mornings (bagels, toast, fruit, cereal) and most importantly a very nice wine and cheese spread each evening.

Well that just about sums up my weekend. it was a great one!  I hope yours was too.
