The Highs and Lows of Blogging

Darling readers and friends, I'm going to go a little off topic today.  I started this blog a year and a half ago as a creative outlet and as a way to express my love of fashion.  I certainly have a style that is all my own and love it or hate it, it is mine.  I've met so many lovely people both virtually and in person as a result of blogging and even after each long workday, I look forward to my daily dose of blogging both as a reader of other blogs and a contributor to my own.  But yesterday was the first time that blogging really brought me down.  Someone that I'm not going to name stole a whole slew of my photos (which by the way are copyrighted), posted them on her random facebook page with mean spirited commentary about how I look and what I wear.  Comments ranged from telling me I should wear spanx to the fact that they thought I look manly to making fun of my poses.

All I can say is this; it takes a lot of chutzpah to put myself out there every day.  I take my own photographs and if my pose or the look on my face isn't perfect, give me a break.  I'm just a person who is trying to express myself each day.  This person who stole my images didn't even have the balls to identify herself by name but instead put me on her random facebook "page".  I know putting myself out there means that sometimes people won't like how I look, what I wear or my style in general.  And sometimes people will comment with feedback to that end, but this was over the top, unnecessary and downright rude.

At the end of the day, we are all people with real lives, real jobs, real families.  It is beyond me that a group of adult women who "like" this particular facebook page all took some kind of perverse pleasure in making fun of me.  It reminded me of high school mean girls and I thought that part of my life ended 25 years ago.

Thanks for putting up with my rant.  I'm just back from London and Paris so we'll be back to regularly scheduled posting tomorrow.

Shame on that person! Keep your head up and continue on!

Oh my goodness how terrible Lissy!! My heart is breaking for you. Mean girls suck. I love what you do and I am so happy you do it, please don't let this keep you from anything!!!

That is disgusting and pathetic, but you know that already. So sorry to hear that happened to you. You have fabulous style and a great blog and I for one (of many) am happy to read it every day and see your new looks! Keep your chin up, lady. :)

Oh Lissy - that brought tears to my eyes. Maybe there is that one person, but there are SO MANY MORE of us that love the blog and think you are a truly beautiful, unique, and brave person. Don't let the jealous, small people get you down and keep on smiling. I hope to see you soon!

There will always be haters...don't let it get to you. Love your blog!

Ladies, if you are a Lissy follower, the person is Tonya of "Shop Your Closet" on Facebook. She is a mean spirited person who has done this to sever bloggers and people who post to Main pages of retailers. Then when she is caught she plays the victim and woe everyone hates me. She is a 40 yr old imature mean girl. She wears cruel shoes!! Lissy hang in there!!

Shame on them is right. Maybe a letter from your attorney would "straighten things out" for them. Keep on bloggin' on, Lissy!

I know the page which posted your picture and the admin there is a very mean spirited person (much as she loves to proclaim what a lady she is). She and her fans are very mean and judgemental (and I think slightlky jealous of you).

Glad you addressed the issue. I see Tonya has issued an apology-unfortunately she owes apologies to many others not brave enough to call her out.

Girl..my stomach has been in knots for you since you reached out yesterday..I am sickened by their behavior..your photos were already taken down when I went to go look at the ones you alerted me about...BUT I had a chance to read some of there awful commentary to others...I just don't understand why anyone would do this. If they don't care for your outfit choices then don't read your blog...I am SO sorry that you went through this...
but you have DEFINITELY made in impact...she issued an apology on her page and also my images and the images of some other bloggers are no longer on her wall page.

I saw what she did on her page becuase I had liked her page awhile back. Seeing your pictures I thought it was really rude of her. I think your style is great and even if I wouldn't wear some of your looks they are still inspiring and definitely not a don't like she said. I saw today she did apologize on her page for this but I will unlike her page now because of this high school mean girls attitude. You are great and inspiring! Dont let the mean girls bother you!

Lissy for every bi*ch out there who has NOTHING better to do with her time there is 10 readers out there who GET you. And we appreciate you.
Forget about the silly twat - and carry on showing us your fabulous style and LUSH wardrobe.

I'm so sorry you had to go through that at all. I know on more than one occasion you've spoken about what a great community of bloggers you've joined. It's really sad and honestly, disheartening that anyone but particularly someone her age would make so many people feel so bad and question what brings them joy on a regulars basis.

She is a mindless, insignificant woman with likely very little good in her life. She seems to have a number of targets and unfortunately you were her most recent casualty. If Facebook doesn't do something they should be ashamed.

Keep your head up. I love you.

All I can say is I'm sorry that happened to you and thank you! What
you encountered is something that to my knowledge has been going
on for months. You were a random target while a friend of mine was
a regular and frequent target via a popular clothing retailer's page. Executives
at that company were notified regularly and chose to turn a blind eye and
deaf ear, costing themselves some customers in the midst of it all. Whatever it was you
said seemed to have at least finally given the culprit pause and I can only say
I'm sorry you had to experience that, and thank you for finally getting her to see
her actions for what they truly are, the actions of a mean spirited mean girl who should have grown past that behavior years ago.

Some nerve! I can't believe how some people choose to waste time and energy on being mean. The person who did this is rude and tacky, but those who joined in for the fun of it (or whatever reason) are certainly no better. You have exquisite clothes and style. I haven't looked at this other place and do not intend to, but I can bet without a glance that these are not chic women.

Some people have NO manners! She is a sad, petty, ill-bred person with whom you would never associate if it weren't for this melting pot called the Internet. You are a lovely woman, with a beautiful wardrobe, and smashing style. She is none of these things. Don't spend any more time upset by her - she is not worth it. Keep posting and stay stylish! Love your blog and your site. Don't ever stop, please!

10.31.2011 | Unregistered CommenterAnon

Lissy, for someone to repost your photos without your permission and use them in a mean-spirited way is unconscionable. Your blog is a lot of fun and I hate that someone took advantage of your obvious passion for style. Please don't let this deter you from continuing to entertain and educate us! I looked at that woman's Facebook page, and I must say, it doesn't hold a candle to your style! There's absolutely no comparison. You are a lady with class and style and, from what I can tell from reading your blog, a kind spirit!

10.31.2011 | Unregistered CommenterMolly Jane

All I can say is that I was beyond floored when I read this post. I can not even fathom how these women can act in such a rude and thoughtless manner. Lissy, you inspire me to wear more color! I adore your style and your fearless approach to style...you've quickly become one of my favorite blogs. xx

10.31.2011 | Unregistered CommenterJessica

Lissy, I am sorry to say that I was one of the fb posters who said rude and uncalled for things about your pictures. I sincerely apologize and ask for your forgiveness. I spent most of today reading your blog and I love it! You are so lively and fashion forward and obviously a very successful and confident woman. I was caught up in a round of rudeness at your expense. Again, please forgive me.

10.31.2011 | Unregistered CommenterCheryll

Lissy, I am really sorry this happened to you. This group of women have been routinely doing this. They call this lady that posts her picture on Talbots page as Oh My and ridicule and mock her relentlessly. It is really great that you called them out. Your blog is fun and you have great style. Continue with what you are doing, dont worry about haters.

10.31.2011 | Unregistered CommenterMichelle

So sorry to hear about this! It definitely takes courage to post about yourself online and the unfortunate truth is that some people are just trolls.

My favorite outfits in the celeb magazines are usually on the 'fashion don'ts' page. People who make rules are not interesting people. Keep doing what you're doing!

Lissy, I enjoy reading your blog and looking at your photos for style ideas I can create with what I have. You have great taste and fashion sense and boy am I envious!. Along with that, what you choose to put in print in your blog is expressed professionally and graciously to all, even your comments to this shameless woman who not only stole from you, but then proceeded to provide a forum for insults about you. I too have just visited that FB wall "Shop Your Closet" and even from a quick visit, find content that is mean-spirited. When people have no original ideas of their own, they resort to stealing from others. That's the only reason I can come up with as the motivation here. Rest assured though, readers of good character can tell the difference and you are the real deal. Keep up the good work and don't let this get you down.

11.1.2011 | Unregistered CommenterEvelyn

Lissy so sorry to hear this. Please don't let this one nasty person spoil it for you. You are fabulous and so is your blog. xox

11.1.2011 | Unregistered CommenterMichelle

Well, if any good has come from the random "hit" by that FB wannabe stylist , it is I've discovered your wonderful blog! From what I understand, from a few close friends is, her reputation precedes her and not in a good way. This too shall pass, and please keep sharing your fashion sense, I know I will be checking in on a regular basis!

11.1.2011 | Unregistered CommenterLinda

Lissy, your site is simply FAB!!! You have great style. I DIE! Please do not let this WANNABE, get you down! I love your ideas and fashion sense. You inspire us to be more creative!

As for "Shop your Closet", I think it should be called "Let Me Steal Your Closet or IDEAS". This excuse for a human being has no original thoughts whatsoever just look at her site. Rachel Zoe, Phil Block, MA Stephenson, Carson Kresley you are not Tonya. They all are originals and can think for themselves. They don't steal from others.

As for the women that follow her, they are just as pathetic and phony as Tonya. I guess you all do not know right from wrong?! The sad part is that most of them are mothers of children. If you act like this how can teach your children differently? What is the VOID in your life that makes you behave like this? Maybe you all should examine yourselves before you start commenting on others (unless your perfect and trust me you are not perfect).

Copyright infringement is a CRIMINAL OFFENSE. THEFT can get you jail time! Tonya, do you want to wear an orange jumpsuit or the grey and black?????
